Chap Goh Meh @ Tasik Taman Jaya

Yesterday was the 15th day of Chinese New Year. It marks the end of the new year celebration and it is also Valentine Day according to the chinese calendar.

I went to Tasik Taman Jaya where there is Chap Goh Meh celebration going on. In the olden days single lady who wish to look for their 'Prince Charming' will throw mandarin oranges (with their contact details on it) into the river, and the so called 'Prince Charming' will pick the oranges and contact the girls.

Yesterday I finally experienced myself what it was like on that day. It was an eye opener for me as an amateur in chinese culture (YES.. I am a so called Banana).

People really go there to hunt for girls. All the guys and girls are there just for fun. The girls really throw mandarin oranges and the guys really take the effort to get those orange using nets. It was really really awesome effort by the guys. Wish them good luck after all the effort they have done.

My friend was one of the lucky ones. He manage to get an orange from a girl which he was targeting all night. The girl came to him when we were watching magic show and gave him an orange with her FB on it. Way the go pal. =D...

Wish you all the best too. At least he got to know a new friend. I am not as lucky as him as I am quite a shy guy. Anyway I am happy for him.

That all that happens on a wonderful night.

Happy Chap Goh Meh!!!
